Safe Under the Roof
Finally, i had finished the new Fira Basuki's book "Atap" today's early morning (yeha, after long awake until 3am, i should think to get a sleep for few hour man). Fortunately, the story much more thick than two former series, rationally it is the last series. The only i could say to you is, Fira done his job well. Even this book (in my opinion) didn't get many attention like others Indonesian woman author (Ayu Utami and Dee), i get impressed by what she did. The line of story, the style, and the plot really different. It has a "curhat" strorytelling (like a private talk with your buddies), and Fira makes it so different, we were so closed with the role character either Bowo or June. We feels all they felt in the whole story like we did it by myself, that's so wonderful story. By this style, most critic told that Fira had nothing sense work because it style likely a writing of young girls talk with other's friend. Ah, he makes it because it should be. The line of whole story is June and Bowo (brother and sister) who tell each other with their personal problem. By the book one, Fira made June starting the stories and open the reader's perspective and begin to introduce all the main characters including Bowo. The first one is absolutely about June's personal story told to us (book's reader). The second book differently hold us to hear the story in Bowo's view, which also had a connection with June story before. So, the final story, the third book finalising all that story, which clearly told all connections had been made. So, this is a story about a Javanese culture, told by its young-modern generation, educated in western academic, with their personal life and problem (above all is love), with some mystical adventure of Javanese mysticism (ever there also some view Tibetan, Chinese, and Islamism philoshopy), and a spiritual gathering into philosophical contemplation. The difference of what Fira's work is, it's all told by private talk, really simple, flows, and inspiring. After that all, that is why this latest book titled as "Atap" (Roof in English), following "Jendela-Jendeal" (Windows) and "Pintu" (Door), it's all about our home, where our soul take a place to its freedom and peace.
